Daria Protopopescu’s research interests are: Theoretical and Historical Linguistics, Translation Studies and Terminology. Her PhD research centres upon the contrastive study of manner adverbs in English and Romanian and attempts to offer a solution for the two major theories on adverbs currently on the market. As a linguist, she has received training in formal and applied linguistics and was part of the research groups in generative linguistics at the University of Tilburg (2007). She is a secretary on the scientific board for the journal “Roumanian Biotechnological Letters”, University of Bucharest.
She has taught the courses: Contemporary English Linguistics: Syntax of Root Clauses and Syntax of Complex Sentences (since 2006, for 2nd year students in the programmes “Applied Modern Languages” and “Translations”), History of the English Language (since 2007, for 2nd year students, English major), English Terminology (for 2nd and 3rd year students in the “Translations” programme). The seminars that she teaches have included: Seminar in Legal and Business Discourse (since 2006, for the Rhetoric and Argumentation MA Programme), Concepts of Modern Grammar (1st years English majors) Old English (since 2003, for 2nd year students, English major), History of the English Language (since 2003, for 2nd year students, English major), Contemporary English Linguistics (since 2000, all years), Practical Course (since 2000, all years).
